4to in stiff paper covers. 88 pp. Text in French. Color and b/w illustrations. Contributors include Marcel Griaule, Eric Lutten, Andre Schaeffner, Deborah Lifszyc & Michel Leiris. Condition: Fair. Text block is clean with no tears or markings, but partially detached from covers. Covers have loss to lower 1/3 of spine with toning and light staining on front and substantial discoloration on back. Ex-libris the Stendahl Art Gallery, Los Angeles. This volume was a well-used reference copy in the gallery’s reference library, hence the rough condition. Until its recent closure, the Stendahl Gallery was one of America's oldest continuously operating private art galleries. Art from the Stendahl collections found a home in The Louvre and many other major institutions throughout the world. Upon closing the gallery, the family donated a significant collection of photographs and documentation to the Getty Research Institute.
