1st ed. "The Fremont Cannon" is Volumn 11 in the Frontier Military Series. This book covers J.J. Fremont's attempt to bring a brass cannon from the Mississippi River to California. The effort failed and the cannon has been lost to history. The prevalent theories at that the cannon was buried somewhere on the east slope of the Sierra Nevadas and never found or that the cannon was dug-up by Native Americans and dumped into one of the deep remote canyons found on the eastern slopes of the Sierras. New copy; book is pristine but it has been in storage and the d/w has some light soiling, light shelf-wear along edges, and a few age spots.
